World Blood Donor Day

June 14, 2017
Today we celebrate all those who selflessly donate their blood and time to provide those in need with a second chance at life and healing. In an emergency situation, your donation could be the difference between life and death for someone. It’s important for all those who meet minimum requirements, to consider being a blood donor. Donating a unit of blood can save the lives of up to three patients in dire need of blood. Voluntary blood donation accounts for 100% of blood supplies across 57 countries. The shortage of blood has led to unnecessary deaths and many patients suffering from continued ill-health. An adequate and reliable supply of safe blood can be assured by a stable base of regular, voluntary blood donors.
