Johannesburg – Anglican Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu will remain in hospital under observation for a few days, but is off intensive antibiotic treatment, his daughter said in a statement on Sunday.
Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu said he was in good spirits when she visited the hospital on Sunday, and filled with gratitude for the care he was receiving and for the love and prayers of friends around the world.
The “Arch”, as he is affectionately known, was admitted to a Cape Town hospital last Tuesday to treat a stubborn infection. The treatment was not related to the prostate cancer he had been managing for the past 18 years.
The medication he was receiving for his prostate was effective and his prostate-specific antigen count was negligible.
