Lions coach Loffie Eloff has divided his two sides for Saturday evenings two warm-up matches against the Bulls at Wits into what seems to be his preferred number one side and a second XV with all the big name recruits named in the obviously stronger White side.

The Bulls have indicated they will give some or their top players a rest, although some may get a run late in the match. Like Eloff they will use the warm-ups for experimentation.

Former Springbok wings Henno Mentz and Ashwin Willemse and former Bok lock Jannes Labuschagne, are three new faces that were absent in last years Lions Super 14 line-up – and as a reserve for Earl Rose is World Cup flyhalf Andre Pretorius, who makes his return after a year of injury problems.

US Eagles captain Todd Clever is bracketed on the flank with Franco van der Merwe while former Cheetahs centre Barry Goodes is named at inside centre as a reserve for Doppies la Grange.
